Motorola Xoom to Beat iPad 2 Prices at Verizon Stores
There is going to be a great deal of competition between iPad and iPadx2 in the market even if iPad 2 will be launched after Motorola Xoom. This biggest competing tablet will be depending on the DROID campaign and there is no doubt that Xoom is going to be one of the forefront products on the all-new Google’s Android OS campaign this year.
What is going to be in the store is bundle of attractive features along with the Google’s Android Honeycomb OS with a brilliant high resolution display screen of 1280 X 800 pixels, front facing and rear facing cameras and a dual core processor. Nevertheless, Verizon’s both 3G and 4G networks will be sporting this tablet and they are expecting nearly 800, 000 units shipping worldwide.
Motorola is also planning to work on the accessories which will be compatible with the Xoom tablet, accessories will be a speak dock, cases and a Bluetooth keyboard. Meanwhile, for the surprise of everyone the tablet has a real surprise of a big economical price tag of only $ 250 and $299 unlike the competitor iPad2 which is expected at $599.

Where is the source? I love the xoom, but I haven’t seen any solid evidence that it will be less than $500!
If Xoom ships at $299 maximum I don’t care about any other tablets! that’s going to be the best deal of the year especially with the dozens of tablets coming out in the first half of 2011. Plus from all the articles out there the Xoom has the best functionality so far of any of the other tablets, so bring on the $300 price tag!
This seems to be an extremely speculative rumor that has barely been reported on. Only way it would come in at this price is with a 2-year contract, in my opinion. They better have an optional no-contract data plan like the ipad has now, as I would not sign a contract for a tablet that would almost never leave the house. If they can somehow pull off $300 with no contract, then I’ll be impressed and would consider purchasing.
99% sure this is false. Or the tablet will come with a contract requirement. Either way sucks.
Seems too low. Doesn’t make sense. With all the hype they could get more. But… if Motorola was crazy enough to sell these for $299, we would DEFINITELY have an Ipad killer.
It would be a bad strategic move to price it so low….They should come in $50-$100 less and keep it competitive..Undercutting is bad for technology because then they start skimping on quality to keep up with the jonses..Id rather pay another $100 and have something that won’t crash all the time. I don’t mind paying more for Apple products cause they work. Flash is the real deal breaker..as much as Jobs says flash doesnt matter, Id be lying if I said it wasnt really annoying every time you wind up on a site and stuff doesnt come up. Is it the end of the world, no… but if there is a competitive product that works im going for it.
Is it 300 with or without a verizon contract? Would this not be a huge factor?
I didn’t want to pay more for the updating about hardware of iPad 2. As we know, not all the features can be used by us, maybe we use is for our video enjoyment only. Furthermore, there are something that apple will never give us, such as expanding storage and the freedom of app choice. If you’ve created an app good enough, you have to apply for apple with the allowing to appear in mac walled garden, like ifunia mod video converter.
Yes this will be out with a contract we guess
This article is like worrying about the cost of an Ivy League education for your child still in the womb. Let’s worry about the cost of Ivy Leagues once we find out if our kid is smart enough. We have no idea what the tablet or the OS will be like. All we have seen so far are well orchestrated videos. Motorola didn’t even let ppl at CES touch the damn thing. XOOM is at least three months out (may be LONGER). It will be competing with an iPad with DOUBLE digit MILLION units sold; a mature iOS; and second generation iPad to be released at around the same time. I do NOT care about the cost. I just want it be GOOD!! Apple has sold MILLIONS of iPads at premium because ppl think it’s worth it.
There’s no way in hell it’s going to be priced like that without having a contract attached to it.
So whenever Motorola releases a Wi-Fi only version of the device (or a 3G device w/o a contract, whatever,) I would imagine the price will be at least double what’s stated in this article. So you can’t really say that the price of the device “beats” the iPad when you’ve got a data plan committment attached to it.
This low price is a total myth. The device will be a high price. Here is the evidence. http://www.techradar.com/news/mobile-computing/motorola-xoom-will-have-a-premium-price-922902
i was told by a verizon rep that with out a contract like at best buy it will come in at around 650.00 – 750.00, but with a contract motorola will let tham dicount it maybe around 300.00 – 500.00, apple will not allow them to discount.
